2019-2020 schedule

As the 2018-2019 school year winds down, Coach Guttery has been busy preparing for next season.  The ECS basketball varsity team has a busy month of June ahead of them with 3 team shootouts (Lehigh Summer Slam, Summer Shootout, FGCU) as well as a team retreat to Northern Florida.  ECS basketball players will also be assisting as camp counselors for the largest basketball skill development camp in SWFL.  Over 300 campers will participate in this year's Summer Shootout Clinic's, which will be held in the Sentinel Fieldhouse.

The 2018-2019 season was one for the books.  The team set the school record for most wins in a regular season, was ranked in the top 5 in 3A throughout the season, and finished with a 21-5 record.  Coming up short in the district semifinal has set the tone for this year's offseason.   "Our returning varsity players have been gym rats ever since the season ended," said Coach Guttery.  "They love working on their game and competing against each other!"

The 2019-2020 schedule will be the most challenging schedule in the history of the ECS basketball program.   "To be the best, your team has to play against and beat the best," says Coach Guttery.  The new play-off system also rewards strength of schedule and rankings more than in year's past.  Click HERE to read more about the new FHSAA play-off system.

For the first time in school history, ECS has been invited to participate in next year's City of Palms Classic.  In addition to this great honor, the team has been invited to play in the Suncoast Holiday Classic at Sarasota Riverview, the Wally Keller Classic at Charlotte High School, and the New Year's Shootout at Lehigh High School.  The team's home opener will be an "in-school" game vs. a very good Lely team on December 5th. Fans may be most excited to hear that the 3rd annual "Silent Night Game" will take place on December 20th against Lemon Bay.   ECS will also host the second annual City of Palms Premier on December 14th.  This year's event will match up the top 6 teams in SWFL against teams from out of the area.  ECS will play in the prime time game in that event!

Coach Guttery is excited about the 2019-2020 schedule.  "Next year's schedule really turned out well.  In addition to our varsity team playing some of the best teams in SWFL, we are playing in some of the most prestigious events in the state against top notch programs.  We are also excited that on most nights, our middle school teams will play with our upper school teams.  This will allow our teams and coaches to be more involved with each other."
