SCOTT GUTTERY
SCOTT GUTTERYVarsity Basketball Coach

Scott Guttery grew up in Southwest Florida. He graduated from Bishop Verot High school in 1997 and went on to play college basketball at Centre College in Danville, KY. Scott graduated from Centre College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science and a major in Psychology. He moved back to Fort Myers in 2001.

Since returning, he has coached JV basketball at Dunbar (2001-2003) and Bishop Verot (2003-2004). He was the head girl’s coach at Bishop Verot for 1 season (2004-2005). Guttery was then hired to start up the basketball program at Ida Baker High School in Cape Coral, FL. He coached there from 2005-2007. Guttery then coached at Fort Myers High School from 2007-2017. In 10 seasons with the Green Wave, Guttery lead the team to a 203-89 record, 9 state play-off appearances, 6 district titles, 4 LCAC titles, 4 trips to the sweet 16 (2008, 2010, 2011, 2013), 3 trips to the elite 8 (2010, 2011, 2013) and a State Championship in 2010.

In 2009 & 2013, Guttery received the FACA district coach of the year award. In 2010, after leading the Green Wave to Lee County’s first ever state basketball title, Guttery was named SFABC (SW FL Association of Basketball Coaches) and Florida’s 4A coach of the year. Guttery also coached the FACA State All-Star game in 2012 & 2013. He is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the Southwest Florida Association of Basketball Coaches.

In July of 2017, Guttery was hired as the head coach and director of basketball operations at Evangelical Christian School.

Scott has been married to his wife, Becky, for 21 years. They have two boys, Reece (17 years old) & Trae (16 year old) who both attend ECS.

DAVID WESTBERRY
DAVID WESTBERRYMiddle School A Head Coach

David Westberry grew up in SWFL and played high school basketball for Coach Guttery at Fort Myers High School. He graduated from FMHS in 2007 and during his senior year led the team to a district and LCAC championship while earning All-Area Honors.

After graduating from FMHS, David went on to continue his education and athletic career at Warner where he was a 4-year starter and led the team to the NAIA National Tournament as a senior.

After graduating from college in 2012, he started his coaching career as an assistant coach for Warner University where he was the head of player development and recruiting. He spent the last 6 years (2012-2018) working with the National Basketball Academy as a program director and trainer for the Indiana Pacers Youth Hoops Programs. David has traveled all over the world running basketball camps and training.

He will be the middle school athletic director at ECS and teach lower school PE. We are so excited to have David join our ECS Hoops family and have someone with his coaching experience working with our student/athletes.

SCOTT SIMMONSMiddle School B Head Coach

Scott Simmons was born in Nashville, TN but has lived in the Fort Myers area for 37 years. He played varsity basketball for 3 years at ECS and 1 year at Cypress Lake High School from 1994 to 1998. This is Scott’s sixth year coaching middle school basketball at ECS.

Scott is the Residential Division Manager at Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons, LLC, an appraisal and consulting firm in Fort Myers. When not working or coaching, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife, Emily, and sons Taylor (12), Harrison (6), and Calvin (3).
